We went with a fraudulent company to exit our timeshare and they stopped sending us maintenance letters. We have since received an email stating we are no longer part of the group. Do we need to get an exit certificate as another company wants us to believe. To get us this they will be charging

Dear Michael,
I’m glad you came to us with this question as you must be aware of certain companies. It is true that when you exit your Timeshare you must receive a certificate of relinquishment from your resort not only for peace of mind but also for any future incidences. In many cases fraudulent companies can merely reroute your maintenance fees to a different address to proliferate the guise that you have been freed from the responsibility of paying. In these cases one can in future find themselves with high outstanding debts. This is not to say it is your case of course, but you must be very aware and it is best to be in possession of one of these certificates. I would suggest we speak about your specific situation and in this way we can ascertain, to begin with, if you are still liable to a Timeshare contract; and secondly, to discuss whether the company you have been approached by is a veridical and legitimate one.
