Bought my timeshare 17yrs ago for £22k this was for a 1 bedroom apartment. I pay around £700 a year as a maintenance fee. The Porto Mare in Funchal is a high-quality place but I do wonder if our purchase was completely legally correct through RCI. We would prefer to get it off our hands now. RCI has advised that to sell would not be recommended.

Timeshare resorts will do anything to keep your membership going, their primary income is maintenance fees so when a client wants to leave, they make it extremely difficult for them. Having said that, using a trusted 3rd party to dissolve your ownership may be an option you would like to explore.
