I purchased a timeshare from Silverpoint around 8 years ago and was sold on the benefits of it being like a financial investment that would grow financially over time and would be great for our kids. Is that correct?

I have a timeshare in Malta. My question is, I have paid 2020 maintenance fees of £980 but couldn’t go last year due to the pandemic.
I want to book a week in October and they won’t confirm the booking until I pay 2021 maintenance fees.

Can they do that? Because I have paid for the week I want. And also they say I have to take 2021 weeks this year which I can’t. But they are holding me to ransom for £980 in order to take a week I have already paid for.

Please could you tell me if they can do that.
