    If you are saying that you stopped paying maintenance fees over 10 years ago and your resort has not contacted you all this time, it is likely that your ownership may have been terminated. If you are saying you paid maintenance fees for 10 years and have now stopped paying it, they could seek legal action for non-payment.

    To answer your question, there are a couple of things to consider. If you withdraw yourself  along with your wife from a shared contract with another couple, it will then mean that the other party will have to pay your share of the maintenance fees, change the contract into their names only and you will lose the right to any monies paid should you want to pursue a claim in the future.

Covid-19 resulted in long-term closures for resorts creating a huge backlog of owners unable to book their timeshare.  Unfortunately, the resorts are being very unaccommodating and are still demanding maintenance fee payments even if there is no availability.Read more

    Covid-19 resulted in long-term closures for resorts creating a huge backlog of owners unable to book their timeshare.  Unfortunately, the resorts are being very unaccommodating and are still demanding maintenance fee payments even if there is no availability.  As far as I’m aware, no timeshare contract protects owners against this type of event.

    You have a few options, first of all, you could contact your timeshare company and ask what alternatives could be offered and if nothing is deemed to be acceptable, then maybe time to consider releasing yourself from your timeshare? (this will of course depend on what you have purchased).
