Hi there, I have an elderly aunt looking for some advice for her timeshare. She has a timeshare in Lanzarote and because of COVID-19 she lost her job and is currently struggling financially. I’m trying to find out the options for her. I have spoken to the resort but all they can do is offer a payment plan and split the yearly fee into monthly. Please could you let us know what could happen if she stopped paying it.

For some strange reason we cannot fix the problem of answering this question so I have the response here from a lawyer who specialises in current Silverpoint cases.
Dear Robert,
The liquidation of Silverpoint is very complicated and there is not a website you can find out this information, you would need to appoint Spanish legal representation to investigate. Having said that even though the maintenance bills have stopped, you still have a right to a possible claim (will depend on what you purchased from Silverpoint). I bought a week way back in the early ’90s at Puerta Calma resort in Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria. I paid over £8k and it came with 2 years free fees.
Roughly 6 months after the purchase I realised it would be of no use to me. I contacted the resort repeatedly informing them I did not need the week I purchased and could refund my money or as the management of the resort could they resell it for me. I never got a response to my numerous requests.
Then I started to get invoices for the annual fees. Again I contacted them again I was ignored. In voices kept coming for several years then stopped and I’ve heard nothing since! I honestly believe I was robbed of the £8k?
